The first members of our immediate family to immigrate America was Fortunato (b 9/16/1862, 8pm) and his wife Carmella Mancuso Gentile (b 7/22/1870, time unknown), and their son Guiseppe Mariano (Joseph M, b 7/16/1897 at 8:05). On the ship’s manifest, Fortunato arrived on Ellis Island in 1902. The names of Carmella and Joseph are not listed. The family settled in Carbondale, PA as did others from the village of Panettiere and were naturalized in 1913.
The other children, Anthony (BeBe), Rose, Phillip, and Mary were born in America. There is a 10-year age gap between Joseph and Anthony. More to come …..
